Gin & Rose Kombucha Martinis

Gin and Kombucha

Happy Friday the 13! 😉 I went to The Wellness Show today at the convention centre in Vancouver. I will post more about it tomorrow, but for now I wanted to introduce you to a new drink that will knock your socks off. Have any of you tried Kombucha? Well if you haven’t, you should! It’s an acquired taste but once you try it a few times you grow to love it……or at least I did. It’s super healthy and it tastes a bit like cider since it is fermented. Kombucha is made with tea, sugar, bacteria and yeast. It contains live probiotics and is great for gut health. I hear it is also great for a hangover… why not make your cocktail with it and skip the hang over all together?! This recipe is just in time for your romantic night in for Valnetines day………. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

Holiday Party Cranberry Apple Sangria

cranberry sangria

Merry Christmas! Only 5 days left till the big day. 🙂 Tonight we are throwing our annual christmas party and I am very excited! I decided we should serve a signature cocktail and this festive sangria seemed perfect! I am so glad that I have all of my shopping done because leaving the house today was a zoo. The last Saturday before christmas is always one of the busiest shopping days and the roads were full of crazy people trying to get there last minutes errands done. I’m glad that I don’t have to leave the house for the rest of the weekend! I am going to enjoy the festivities tonight and stay warm and snuggled on my couch tomorrow with hot chocolate and Christmas movies. Wishing you a safe and happy holiday! 🙂

Christmas Cheer, Baileys and Bourbon Cocktail

Baileys cocktail1

I love love Christmas! When I was growing up my mom would make the christmas season so fun and special. I remember chopping down a tree at our local tree farm and inviting our friends over to help decorate the huge tree we had dragged home.  I also have fond memories of it snowing, then me and my sister would stay home from school and bake lots of holiday cookies.  I am so thankful that my mom taught us what christmas was really about. Its not just a commercial “consumer” holiday its about making memories and spending time with the people you love the most. I hope that I pass this christmas “spirit” on to my son. 🙂

Santa Tree

Last night I put up my second christmas tree…’s a long story but the reason I had to replace my tree was because one of the plastic legs couldn’t handle the weight of the tree with all my ornaments and it fell over. So I bought a new sturdier tree with snow covered branches yesterday and I couldn’t happier with it. I got to decorate my tree all over again and it looks better then ever. 🙂

Baileys #3

Who doesn’t love baileys at this time of year?! 😉 I knew baileys would be the perfect friday night cocktail to decorate the tree with last night. I usually just have my baileys with ice or hot chocolate but last night we mixed it up with bourbon and milk and it was sooo good. A must try this holiday season! What are your favourite christmas traditions?

Raspberry and Lemon Kir Royale

Kir Royal 1

Happy Saturday! 🙂 Im sitting in bed enjoying the beautiful fresh snowy view of the park out my window. I love it when it snows and then the sun comes out and the snow stays fresh and crisp, instead of melting right away, which is what happens here most of the time. Last night I bought myself the best Christmas present ever. 🙂 I got the new cannon rebel T5i, and I am so excited to share with you the first photos I took with it of last nights drink. I had a decent point and shoot cannon powershot camera, which I used for most of the photos on my blog. The problem was that recently some dust got into the lens and was wreaking havoc in my most recent photos. I figured instead of paying to fix it, I would just upgrade to a SLR camera. 🙂

I decided to celebrate my new purchase and my first new set of photos with some champagne! This cocktail is great for date night (even though its pink ) or a girls night in. You can’t go wrong with a drink that sounds like it’s out of a James Bond movie right?! Typically a Kir Royale is chambord and champagne, but I decided to make up a slightly different version, and it was very easy to drink 😉 .

Pear and Bourbon Cocktail

Pear Bourbon Cocktail

Happy Friday!! 🙂 I hope you all had a great week. It’s finally the weekend and sometimes me and my hubby like to make a nice cocktail on a Friday night. I’m always looking for new and different cocktail recipes. I found a pumpkin pie & pear bourbon drink recipe online but there were too many steps involved and I just didn’t have the patience so I made up this cool drink instead. 😉 Its super easy and doesn’t take too long to make. If you can prep the pear pure before hand its easier but you can just chill it in the freezer in a pinch if you want to drink right away. 😉 I know that christmas party season is quickly approaching, so this might be a good drink to impress your guests with. 🙂 Have a great weekend everyone!

Pear and Bourbon Cocktail

Pear and Bourbon Cocktail
Recipe type: Drinks
Serves: 4
  • 2 ripe pears
  • 4 shots of simple syrup
  • 6 shots of Bourbon
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of ginger
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 cup of sparkling water
  • 1 lemon juiced
  1. Slice up one of the pears into small pieces and heat it in a small frying pan with 2 shots of water, the cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger and 1-2 shots of simple syrup, Cook the pear mixture on high until it is soft and mushy, about 3-5 minutes,
  2. Now blend up the pear mixture in a bullet or blender to make a puree.
  3. Once the puree has been chilled, use a martini shaker and mix 1½ shots of bourbon per person. So all 6 shots if you want 4 drinks. All of the lemon juice, pear mixture and the rest of the simple syrup.
  4. Put ice in 4 glasses, pour in the cocktail, top up with sparkling water and garnish each drink with a pear slice from the remaining pear.
  5. Serve and enjoy!
