Brandy & Absinthe Cocktail

Last night as a pre valentines date night (no kids) I made my hubby this new delicious cocktail and it did not disappoint! It is fresh and so smooth. I was inspired by a fellow bloggers instagram post and recipe here for her Villadry cocktail. I changed a few things and made it my own what a great drink idea!

Enjoy

Hot Chocolate Station

This Holiday Season is definitely different for previous years. From Christmas shopping with a mask on 24/7 to not being able to see our friends and extended family to celebrate. I know it is hard on everybody! I sure am trying to find silver linings and things that we can do to keep up the festive cheer in our home and our hearts. We are playing lots of classic holiday movies and making hot chocolate and popcorn most nights. I decided it would be fun to set up a hot chocolate stain in the kitchen so that we are ready with all of the fixings.

We stocked up the station with cute holiday mugs, christmas tea, hot chocolate mix, candy cane toppings, marshmallows and chocolate peppermint swirl sticks. For the adults there is baileys ;). I used this cute crate and barrel tiered server to keep it nice and tidy in one corner of my kitchen and seeing it every day makes me smile. We need more smiles in 2020!!

Apple Fashioned Smash

The holiday season is upon us and so is hosting friends and family. Me and my hubby just hosted our first Christmas party together last night. I always like to serve a signature cocktail to guests when they arrive. Recently we were in Montreal for a few days and I had this really nice drink at the airport coming home called an Apple Fashioned Smash. I don’t know what exactly they put in it but I knew it had apple juice and bourbon so I recreated my own version and they were a hit last night. I hope you like them!

Dairy Free Egg Nog

Wow, I can’t believe its only 2 weeks left till Christmas! December always flies by so fast. I recently went to a naturopath and got some food testing done…. It seems I am intolerant to a lot of foods, one of them being dairy. I have loved eggnog since I was a kid and since I have found that the store bought dairy free ones just haven’t seemed to taste anything like real eggnog, I decided it was time to make my own.

Elderberry and Pomegranate Cocktail

Vodka and elderberry

It’s holiday time!! 🙂 Which means you may be having a cocktail or 2….! I usually just stick to wine but I do enjoy a cocktail from time to time. This pomegranate and elderberry sparkling drink is just delicious, so refreshing. I served it to my girlfriend the other night and we both loved it. When I serve drinks, I like to serve snacks too. I am loving these cassava chips from Pura Vida. Cassava is a nutty flavored, starchy tuber of South American origin. Sweet and crunchy, it has been a popular edible root for centuries among many ancient cultures of the world. It’s a great alternative to potato chips and its healthier too. What is your favourite holiday drink or cocktail?!!

Tropical Peach and Pineapple Rum Slushy’s

Fruity Rum beach cocktails

Happy Friday!! 🙂 This week was a bit of a hard one for me work wise, so I’m very glad to see the weekend arrive. I haven’t been posting any summer cocktails recently and I thought it was due time. I finally have a fully stocked bar and I haven’t been using it much….lol.  So last night I got out my blender and made these icy cold rum slushy drinks and they were perfect. I didn’t add any extra sweetener as I am avoiding extra sugar. They tasted great to me but if you like drinks a bit sweeter you could add a bit of honey to your mix. I can’t believe that that summer is over in a few short weeks! I hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Hellooooo Weekend. 🙂 Such a gorgeous day today! We went to the park this morning and then to the pool for swim this afternoon. This may be the best weather in May ever……. I thought since it’s the weekend and its definitely patio season I would share another fruity cocktail recipe. This might be my last fruity recipe for a while. I just downloaded my kindle edition of the famous book I Quite Sugar.  Me and my friend an fellow blogger Karen plan to start the 8 week program to get rid of sugar from our diets…….should be an interesting challenge. 😉 Until I start my sugar purge June 1, I plan to get my fill on fruity cocktails and sweet fruit. Happy Weekend. 😉

Rhubarb Raspberry & Vodka Jam Jars

Rhubarb and Vanilla Cocktails

Happy Friday!! 🙂 It’s been an amazing week weather wise. My outdoor pool is open and I have been basking in the sun and swimming whenever I have free time. I definitely think this is going to be a VERY hot summer! This fresh summer cocktail is perfect for a backyard BBQ. 😉 I don’t buy rhubarb that often but I really do enjoy it. It reminds me of summers as a kid growing up on Salt Spring Island. My mom would get a fresh bunch from a neighbour and we would dip them in sugar. What’s your favourite summer food? I love serving drinks in these cute recycled jam jars. Have a great weekend!
