Well it has definitely been a minute since I posted last! So much has changed from Christmas till now. The two biggest changes in my home are that we got a dog and my longtime boyfriend and me split up and he moved out. Change is always hard but we don’t grow if we don’t change… Lets talk about adding a dog to our family first!
My son has been asking me for a dog for at least 4 years, I have always told him that they are too much work and that we needed to wait till he was older so he could help out. Then late last year I watched the movie “Dog Days” it’s a cute romantic comedy and you can’t help but cry and yearn for your own dog after watching it. I also have a friend who has adopted two small rescue dogs and they bring her so much love and joy that I just felt like it was the right time for us to get one. We surprised my son and brought home “Honey” our new (rescue) dog just before Christmas. It took a few weeks for her to feel comfortable in our home as she is a stray dog from California. Now she has settled in nicely and she loves her new home. For anyone wanting a dog, just make sure you have the time and energy to walk them everyday. Enlist the whole family to help with walks and feeding. They really do add so much love and joy to your life, we are so happy we found our little honey bear.
Side note: Stop buying super nice and fancy pillows and throws because your dog will think they are play toys and eat them! She chewed all the pom moms off my winter pillows… 🙁 Good things she’s so cute.
Life is unpredictable and people change and grow and sometimes what you want in life is not the same as your partner. Me and my man have been living together for the last 4 years and so when he moved out, I decided to reclaim the bedroom and walk in closet. The decor in the rest of the house is staying the same for now, I chose most of it anyway. 😉 The best thing about being single is getting my walk in closet back! Don’t get me wrong, break ups are hard and this is not easy for me, but I always try and find the silver lining!
I recently watched the new Netflix series called Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, it was so good and it inspired me purge all of our closets and donate 6 bags of cloths to charity! It felt so good to get rid of stuff that didn’t bring me joy anymore.
Here a a few pics of my bedroom now that it’s just me and I can be as girly as I like (lol). I love the pink pillows and the pink lama on my dresser (my mom got for me). It feels lonely sometimes when you are used to sharing your space with someone but it also feels good to have the freedom to do what you like and only have to clean up after yourself.
What is the biggest change for you in 2019?
