Holly Heck, I got beaten down with a flu/cold virus for the last 8 days! So not fun. I’m starting to feel a bit better, but this week was hard. It seems to be going around and it doesn’t help that my son brings home all the germs from school…. I havn’t had much time to be blogging this week, so I’m squeaking out this cold remedy to you instead. 😉 I figure someone you know could probably use it right now.
Turmeric has been used for thousands of years for it’s medicinal properties. Turmeric contains loads of nutrients especially antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. Turmeric is nothing new to Eastern cultures, in fact it’s been known as a “healing spice” and can be used to help anything from sore throats, colds, flus, stomach aches to wound healing, due to it’s antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Honey also has antibacterial properties to help fight off a cold and ginger can relieve a sore throat and loosen up congestion. This winning combination is the perfect warm drink to help you get well!
- 1¾ cups unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 nub fresh ginger
- pinch of cracked black pepper
- In a pot combine all ingredients and let bubbles form over medium heat, whisk a few times and then turn off the heat after 3-4 minutes.
- Let the milk steep covered in the pot for 10 more minutes, then remove the nub of fresh ginger.
- Serve and enjoy!
